Herp Overload began with one small kingsnake and a lesson that shaped our entire mission. When I was a child, I caught my first reptile outside — a kingsnake I carried with me everywhere. Not knowing how to properly care for him, my mom and I went to a local pet store for help. Unfortunately, we were given harmful misinformation and were told he needed to stay in a dark place with no heat and no light. I trusted that advice, and because of it, I lost my first reptile friend. That moment stayed with me. It inspired me to learn everything I could about reptiles so that no one else would have to experience the pain of losing an animal simply because they were taught the wrong thing. Life pulled me away from reptiles for a while, especially when my kids came into the world. But years later, my daughter showed her own interest in reptiles — and that spark reignited everything. Together, we dove back in, learning, growing, and eventually rescuing and rehoming reptiles. Each rescue taught us more about proper husbandry, animal needs, and the business side of responsible reptile keeping. Our Mission Today, Herp Overload exists to share that knowledge with others. We work hard to provide accurate care information, healthy and well-kept animals, and support you can trust. Every customer, whether brand-new or experienced, deserves clear guidance so their reptiles can thrive. What We Believe Education first: We make sure you leave with real, correct, up-to-date care info. Animal welfare always: Every reptile is cared for with respect, enrichment, and proper husbandry.
